GemStorm

GemStone is a falling block puzzle game: there are combinations of differently colored blocks falling down from the top of the screen. The player can shuffle the positions of the blocks and should place them on the board in order to create either horizontal, vertical of diagonal lines of identical colors. Then the blocks disappear and the other placed blocks fall down accordingly.

There are 100 levels which differ in the initial state of the play board, the combinations of falling blocks, the winning condition (how many lines have to disappear) and the threshold (how many identical blocks are required to form a disappearing line). When the player manages to create longer lines than required, they may meet the Not threshold (also changes from level to level). Then they are rewarded with a special effect (essentially power-ups) which helps to solve the level, e.g. eliminating a complete line of the playing board.

While the game can be manually saved at any time, it also features a password system. By entering the one available password, which is hidden within the game, the player unlocks the option to create custom games.
