Description
Combat Air Patrol is a 1-player flight simulator and combat game for the Dragon 32.
The player has been assigned to fly the Royal Air Force's new interceptor the Tornado. The mission is to fly the skies in search of enemy Russian F-25 Foxbats and shoot them down. The aircraft is armed with 2 sidewinder missiles and a cannon with 90 shots. The cannon can shoot down aircraft directly ahead, and the missiles can destroy aircraft behind. The player can control their landing gear, airbrakes, wing sweep, and can enter a refueling or landing sequence. The cockpit displays the player's front view, rear view, and current plane condition.
There are 3 sequences of game play. The refueling sequence, where the player must manuever the nose of their aircraft to the end of the drogue. The landing sequene can commence below 2500 ft, where the player attempts to safely navigate their plane towards and land on the runway. Finally, there is the combat sequence, where the player can dogfight enemy aircraft which appear in the rearview mirror. The player must avoid destroying friendly American aircraft.
