Checkmate! First Moves in Chess
Description
Checkmate! First Moves in Chess is a program to improve and develop the chess game for beginners. The program consists of five set pieces to challenge the computer:
-
For King and Country - Here you learn to attack the king with the pawns and to defend your own King as well.
-
The King and His Castle - Here you can practice with the Castle.
-
The Knight Charges - Here you will learn everything to use the Knight in the best possible way.
-
The Bishop joins up - Here you will learn all about the Bishop.
-
Enter The Queen - All about the Queen, the second most valuable piece on the board.
The last option "The Full Court" gives you the opportunity to put it all into practice.
The moves are specified in algebraic notations, for example A7 A5. If one has made a good move, the audience will show their appreciation. Moves can also be undone at any time to change and correct mistakes. At the end of the game you can get a complete overview of the moves.
This game was included in the Toshiba HX-10 KIT along with Breakout! The Great Computing Adventure and Teach Yourself BASIC.
