Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū '97 Kaimakuban
Description
Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū '97 Kaimakuban is a baseball simulation game and part of the long-running Powerful Pro Yakyū series. It is the third release in the series for the PlayStation, and the second and final to appear on the Saturn. It features a full NPB license and thus all teams and players from the Japanese Pacific and Central leagues, with rosters up-to-date as of the end of the 1997 pre-season.
New in this entry for the 32-bit versions are the addition of Success mode and League mode, which were both introduced in Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū 3. Success mode is an in-depth training and story mode where the player creates a new recruit and has three years to make it to the starting lineup; Success mode players can be saved with passwords compatible with several other titles in the franchise, allowing a player to be moved between games. League mode is a tournament mode for up to six players/teams. Other returning modes include the Battle (Exhibition) mode, Pennant mode, and Practice mode. There is also a team editor called Arrange mode.

Trivia
Title Change
The Sega Saturn version was initially announced under the same title as the PlayStation version, Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū '97 Kaimakuban, and scheduled for release at the same time. However, development delays with this version of the game meant it released several months later, well after the 1997 baseball season was underway. As the title "Kaimakuban" specifically refers to the start of the baseball season, Konami released it under a different title instead.
