Pharaoh's Pyramid

Pharaoh's Pyramid is a variant of the arcade game Q*Bert . You play as little Achmed, who is forced by the Pharaoh Ramses to build his pyramid. Complete all six levels and you win treasure and the gratitude of the goddess Isis. But the jealous god Osiris will try and stop you by any means.

The game is played on an isometric pyramid of blocks. You can move diagonally between blocks, but jumping off the edge of the pyramid will cause you to plummet to your doom. Each time you visit a block, it changes colour. In every round, your first goal is to collect contruction material from the river at the bottom of the screen and return it to the top, to add a layer to a new pyramid. After this, you have to change all of the blocks to some specified colour.

There are many foes that hinder your task. On most rounds, Moses' Snake will slowly follow you around. Different rounds beset you with additional biblical plagues such as frogs, locusts, etc. These enemies appear near the top of the pyramid and meander their way downwards, before disappearing at the bottom. In the final round, you must deal with Osiris himself. Contact with any foe means death. Isis will occasionally appear at one of the bottom corners of the screen, granting you magic that will temprarily remove all foes from the pyramid.

After you have completed eight rounds, you start the next level which adds extra difficulties. The first level is "Slave". The second is "Builder", which adds another possible square colour and a crocodile that patrols the river near the building material. The third "Architect" level introduces the god Set, who will come by and knock you off the normally safe top block of the pyramid. By the final "Pharaoh" level, enemies are moving much faster, and can make holes through the pyramid which will trap the unwary. Both starting level and the game speed are selectable at the start of the game.
