Description
Bounce is a variant of the well-known Breakout where the player has to bounce away all the blocks on the screen as quickly as possible. There are some subtle differences from the original game. One of them is that the movement form is not based on controlling the ball using a bat, but on the bouncing effect of the ball Bouncer against the walls that bounce the blocks away. The other difference is that the player(s) can influence the direction of the ball. If the joystick/cursor keys are moved in the same direction as the ball while the Bouncer bounces, it will accelerate. Steering in the opposite direction slows down Bouncer.
The playing field is filled with blocks. These are different in color with different properties:
-
Red - These blocks do not disappear.
-
Yellow - These blocks only need to be hit once.
-
Green - These blocks must be hit six times.
-
Purple - Now the ball can move in any direction, and even be stopped.
-
Blue - May contain the monsters that is chosen from the ones that are abled. There are eight different monsters. Some will give penalty seconds, an extra Bouncer, or destroy it.
The playing field also contains colored lines:
-
Red - Bouncer bounces.
-
Green - If the ball goes down it will bounce, otherwise it will go right through the line.
-
Blue - Bouncer comes to a stop.
A two-player mode has been implemented, where each player can take a turn if the other player has lost a life. It also comes with a level editor that allows the player to customize or create their own levels. It is then possible to save them to a disk/tape under one of the Bou.Level names. Then choose a name and press the fire button or space bar to confirm.
