Happy Fret
Description
Legend has it that the treasures of the legendary ruler King Mark are hidden in Tinterdell Castle. In the past, many explorers entered the castle in search of treasure, but none returned.
Happy Fret is an action platform game in which the player takes the role of the adventurer Happy Fret who enters Tinterdell Castle in search of King Mark's treasure, which no one has yet discovered. The interior of the castle is a maze of rooms filled with nests of vampire bats and poisonous snakes. These creatures, water and the balloons must be avoided. Otherwise the player loses one life. An eye must also be kept on the time that counts down from green to red numbers. If it reaches 0, the player will lose a life. The score is shown at the top left of the screen. The score gets higher when the player obtains an item or opens a door.
The tools brought by explorers who entered the castle and died were left behind. These can be used to progress further in the game. By pressing 'F1' Happy Fret can grab them. If the player wants to use a tool from the inventory, "F2" must be pressed. Then the tool can be selected. In each room there are doors that lead to other rooms in the castle. They can be entered with the "F3" key. To display the item list press "F4'. The player can save the game by pressing "S" after "F5". Load a previous game with "F5" key and "L".
The MSX version has an energy meter at the top left of the screen instead of the timer and score. All the time it will slowly run out. If it runs out, a life will be lost. It can be refilled by picking up tools.
