Virtual Kyōtei '98

Virtual Kyōtei '98 is a simulation of kyōtei boat racing, part of Nichibutsu's long-running series of the same name, and the first to appear on the PlayStation. It features an official license from the Japan Motor Boat Racing Association, as well as the Racer's Association meaning this version includes the names and stats of over 500 real-life racers as of the start of 1998.

There are two modes available: Pennant Race is the main career mode, as seen in previous titles in the series, in which the player takes the part of a new racer who must work up the rankings with the goal of winning the prestigious SG races; Special Race is essentially a free mode where the player can customize a field of racers and play a single race. The library mode also returns, allowing the player to peruse information about kyōtei basics and strategy.
