Trafalgar
Description
Trafalgar is a 1–2 player strategy game for the BBC Micro and Electron, based upon the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar.
The first player controls British vessels, while the combined French and Spanish fleet can be either controlled by a human player or the computer. Gameplay is divided into two sections. In the overhead section, the player selects two opposing ships to zoom into a closer view of the combat. In the second part, during combat between vessels, the distance between the two ships and wind conditions are displayed. The player then chooses the angle of their cannons and fires. The number of shots per rounds are represented by the cannons of the vessel. If the cannons strike the opposing vessel, there is a chance that the magazine might explode or some of the guns can be destroyed, reducing firing ability. If a ship loses all guns it is captured by the opposing side. If upwind, the player can launch a fireship to try to burn down the opposing vessel. Victory is achieved by destroying or capturing the entire enemy fleet.
