Pentiles

Pentiles is a 1-player puzzle game for the BBC Micro.

The player attempts to score points by covering a red target zone using puzzle pieces that always contain five blocks. The target always contains 60 red blocks, but can be set to a depth of 3–6, which determines the width of the target zone. Blocks can be rotated before being placed on the target, but once their rotation is set can not be further rotated. Blocks can move in all directions, but once a block is placed in the target zone, new blocks can not be moved over this location.

There are three skill levels, and a level proceeds until all available pentiles are used, the target zone is filled, or the remaining target zone can not be reached by a pentile. Final score is based upon individual bonus pentiles, with higher scoring pentiles having thicker walls. Bonuses are also awarded if all eight pentile shapes are used, the target is entirely filled, and for the remaining time for the level.
