If you love Moon Patrol, this was the best 6809 version.

The Good
This was the first 6809 machine (Dragon/Tandy) game I ever played. Contextually, a lot of games for the machines at the time used semi graphics modes, enabling a wider colour/color set at the expense of resolution. This game did not, and as one of the earlier games released for the dragon it set an early standard for what could be achieved graphically and in terms of game play. The control is excellent, the sound rather perfunctory but on a par with the better offerings at the time. The difficulty was pitched exactly right, which is rare for an un official arcade clone. Later games on the same machine boasted better graphics, but that does not distract from one of the more satisfying 6809 machine experiences.

The Bad
By the standards of what this machine could do the game is perhaps a bit shorter than it could have been- another stage and level of complexity would probably have been included had it been made a few years later on the same machine. No opportunity for colour/color set selection was slightly irritating, although it would have been dire in the buff option colour set.

The Bottom Line
Moon Patrol done as well as it could have been for the time and machine.
