Eternity's Child
Description
Eternity's Child is a side-scrolling platformer directed by the artist Luc Bernard, set in a fantasy universe. It takes place in a world where the inhabitants eventually discover technology and build machines. These pollute the world, destroy the forests and the icebergs start to melt. As a result, the entire world floods and the winged creatures flee to the mountains, leaving behind the wingless. The few wingless that survive are very angry and plan revenging, calling themselves the Landians. When the water recedes, they start building robotic versions of the creatures that used to inhabit the planet. This even affects Mother Nature, who becomes a robot as well and starts to build mechanical versions of the creatures herself.
One day, at an orphanage, a winged creature is discovered. The owner cuts off her wings to hide it from the wingless and calls it Angel. While exploring the forest, she meets Rose, another winged creature that tells her some of her species have survived. Together they leave the orphanage in search of their legacy.
Players simultaneously control Angel and Rose through twenty platform levels. Angel can move around and jump, while Rose will automatically follow her. Rose performs all the attacks. She can rapidly fire small orbs or charge a larger one that does more damage. It can also be hit to make it explode in smaller bullets or steered across the screen. All enemies are mechanical and require multiple hits to be destroyed. Some leave behind hearts that replenish Angel's health. The levels require precise timing and involve a lot of moving platforms. To end the level, Angel needs to collect a set amount of gems, of which the number is provided by Rose at the end of the level. Angel can also collects coins, she has multiple lives and there are a number of mid-level checkpoints.
Rose and Angel constantly chat about the events during the game. Most of the levels take place in woods, but some are set in an ice world as well. The game includes a level editor to creature custom scenarios.
