Purge
Description
Purge is an updated version of the same developer's Future vs. Fantasy mod for Quake, first released in 1996. It had a game mode named "Purge" and involved two teams and CTF (Capture The Flag) gameplay elements.
The game uses a modified Lithtech Talon engine and features a futuristic world where players can join one of two factions. The first one is "The Order", a group of engineers who have developed androids and genetically modified human beings far superior to ordinary citizens. The other one is a religious group, "The Chosen", who use arcane magic and the spiritual teachings of their science-rejecting leader Mabus.
The action takes place both indoor and outdoor, on maps that vary from small (2-24 players) to large (10-64 players) in size. There are four classes per side: androids, cyborgs, commandos and wastelanders in the Order and mages, fighters, assassins, and monks in the Chosen. Each of these player classes can tweak seven different attributes and has four different weapons plus three special skills it can use in combat. In every map there's a team spawn point called a portal with a certain number of hit points. Its condition has an effect on how quickly each team's members can respawn after dying. Whichever team destroys the other one's portal wins.
Killing enemies, destroying enemy structures like charge stations and ion barriers, and dropping upgrades for teammates helps the team and gives the players experience points that will level up their character and increase their skills and natural attributes.
