After choosing among one of three campaigns (three different times in the Three Kingdoms settings), you choose the difficulty and the nation you want to play
World view
Max zoom out, viewing territories
City management screen, getting information on an existing building
Army creation screen
General biography and statistics
Viewing generals battle abilities, another screen details their world abilities
Moving an army. Blue dots represent how far you can go this turn.
The game features detailed in-game tutorial screens, appearing each time you do something new (assigning governors, deploying troops, starting a battle...)
Receiving an alliance offer
Diplomacy screen: Nation actions. A similar screen details the Castle actions, i.e. those affecting a specific city: Spying, Sabotaging the castle gates and Spreading rumors.
Proposing a marriage. This game has an old mentality, you will get a negative message if you propose a same sex marriage...
My people has found a boost item, so let's give it to a general (see the red +5 leadership bonus)
Technology tree
Alliances can work against you
Pre-battle screen. You can choose to have the computer solve the battle automatically or to lead the troops yourself.
Deployment screen
You are not limited to predefined deployments and can freely choose the position of each battalion
Foggy battle field
Choosing a battalion formation. Of course, you can select and order multiple battalions at the same time.
Generals have some in-battle special abilities. The circle with symbols represents the area of effect. Rulers (like Cao Cao here) have a larger number and variety of special abilities than generals.
Seems like the enemy is trying to outflank us from the left
There is indeed a cavalry detachment charging from there
When the men are getting slaughtered or that morale is low, battalions will try to flee and regroup
I wonder who will clean the blood stains...
Flags are very important for the morale. Defeat is near.
You can review your battle performance after a battle. When you are victorious, you can also give rewards to the generals of your choice, which results in increasing the general level and statistics.
Back on the world view, you get a summary of the battle, allowing you to determine at a glance your remaining troops and the enemy's
Deployment screen is a bit different when attacking a city...
... and when defending a city
Arriving on the battlefield of a city attack
The enemy soldiers firmly await your arrival on the ramparts
When assaulting a city, much more than during open field battles, you will want to rotate the view (or get a higher view) to see doors/ennemies you cannot with the default orientation.
The main way to take a city is to take the ramparts using ladders. However, if the enemy are too strong, your forces will be repelled and the ladders will fall.
Once the ramparts are taken, you can attack the inner city through the stairs.
Some city have moats and therefore control of the bridges above them is very important
Even though they are well covered inside the city walls, when the enemy flags are taken, defeat is very close for them
Sometimes, when fleeing during the battle did not work, some generals may not survive
Are we missing some important screenshots?
