When assaulting a city, much more than during open field battles, you will want to rotate the view (or get a higher view) to see doors/ennemies you cannot with the default orientation.

The main way to take a city is to take the ramparts using ladders. However, if the enemy are too strong, your forces will be repelled and the ladders will fall.
