Wolfgang Hohlbein's The Inquisitor
Description
Wolfgang Hohlbein's The Inquisitor is a hidden object game with adventure elements, based on a novel by Wolfgang Hohlbein about a witch hunter in the Middle Ages. The player assumes the role of Tobias, an inquisitor sent to a medieval German city to investigate a young woman accused of witchcraft. Most of the time, the objective is to find and click on all the items listed at the bottom of the screen, on locations filled with assorted paraphernalia scattered throughout the scenery. The hint button is a cross at the bottom-right corner, that highlights the position of one of the required objects when activated, but takes some time to recharge after use.
Some of the items are stored in the inventory slots, from where they can be dragged and dropped on appropriate places to perform an action or solve a puzzle. Several mini-games appear at certain points in the game, taking place on separate screens where the player has to pick locks, find all the differences between two similar images, solve a sliding-tiles puzzle and complete other similar challenges.
