Trivia

Inspiration

Although the people, places, and events of Kessen II are based on the Three Kingdoms period and the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Kessen II's story diverges greatly at places.

For example, Liu Bei's war with Cao Cao was never over Diao Chan, who, while a dancer, was never the beloved of Liu Bei. Instead she was used as a pawn to cause animosity between the tyrant, Dong Zhuo, and his great general, Lu Bu.

Another example of a radical change is the gender change of one of Cao Cao's most trusted generals, Xun Yu, from a male in the original written work, to a female in the game. This seems to be done to give Cao Cao and additional love interest.

Other noticeable deviations include Asian characters with blonde hair and glasses on one 2nd century queen.
