Batman fans will no doubt love this game. It's everything you'd want out of it. Ubi Soft chose how to develop it's license nicely, and the end result is a game that everyone would want to play.

Feb 2002 · GameCube · read reviewWhile my experience was overwhelmingly positive, I did uncover a few flaws. The "C" stick used to target enemies is far too sensitive, and the camerawork is awkward at times, especially on the ledges of tall buildings. In your first encounter with the Joker, you can hear him, but you can't tell where the heck he is! Finally, it would be nice if when you picked up an item the game actually told you what the freakin' thing was! But don't let these problems steer you away from this above-average superhero title.

How many Batman games have hit the market during the course of the franchise? Five? 10? 40? We don't know for sure, but given that the quality of each respective release has almost always been excessively poor, the number is probably too high -- whatever it is. The truth is that over the years the Dark Knight and bad, bad videogames have gone hand in hand. But with the release of Batman Vengeance for GameCube, developer Ubi Soft has proven that it doesn't need to be that way -- that, in fact, the Caped Crusader can star in a piece of software worthy of playing.

Batman Vengeance is a great fighting game for all Batman and fighting fans. It is worth the money, but I wouldnât try to beat it all in one day because it probably wonât happen. You'll want to space it out because the replay value isnât great. The game is good, though, and I'll give it props for that.

Batman Vengeance is not the most impressive GameCube game available, but it certainly provides a wonderful Batman video game⊠Something no other previous licensed Batman game has done. It can be annoying in some parts, but itâs very solid and well designed overall. For Bat-fans, itâs a slice of heaven⊠Or at least proof that Batman games donât have to suck.

Lovers of Batman (the cartoon or old-school) and proprietors of Nintendo will have a comfortable 10-hour romp with Batman: Vengeance. I'm optimistic in seeing a handful of solid licensed games come out, but still think Nintendo better get their acts straight. The majority of their releases, are spectacular but are beaten in under 10-hours (Luigis Mansion, Rogue Squadron).

In the end, Batman: Vengeance succeeds at what it set out to do--it puts you into the role of Batman. Every major aspect of the character is presented in some way in the game. Those looking for that sort of experience should be pleased, but hard-core game players might not appreciate the tribute in the same way. Suffice it to say, it's not competing with games like Devil May Cry and Metal Gear Solid 2, it's competing against Spider-Man and Superman, and in that scenario, it fares pretty well. Batman: Vengeance may not be one of the year's best overall, but it is one of those incredibly rare birds known as a good licensed game, and hopefully it marks the end of what has been, until now, a disappointing trend in Batman games.

Despite some of its rough edges, Vengeance delivers a fun ride into Batman's universe. The pace is quick, the visuals pleasant and the writing as tight as its television counterpart. If this game didn't sport the all-powerful Batlicense, chances are it might be looked at as yet another very derivative game -- primarily because it is. But as mildly entertaining as it is, it's probably one of the best superhero-based games ever released. As a gift for the younger fans, this is worth the $50.

There's much to praise about the effort behind this rough-hewn but imaginative game. If you're a fan, you might tackle this tale of the Dark Knight with a Vengeance.

This is competent, if uninspired stuff that will no doubt please Bat-fans. But if you couldn't care less about the Dark Knight, you might want to hang on until Activision's ace-looking Spider-Man: The Movie makes its appearance in just one month's time.

Batman Vengeance game has more gameplay elements such as free fall diving to grab objects, badguys or to even save hostages from their deaths. Along with that you can drive the Batmobile and fly the Batplane in certain situations. On other occasions Batman is presented with easy to solve puzzles which even a toddler can solve. The game difficulty level is unbalanced, I found it much more difficult to battle The Jokerâs thugs than battling the Joker himself... kind of odd if you ask me. Most of the time I would find myself running away from The Jokerâs thugs instead of dukking it out with them.

The opening sequence in this title had me believing that, at last, the ultimate Batman game had been created. Unfortunately, that feeling of euphoria doesnât last long as the little quirks in the gameplay start to wear on you. Bat-maniacs will surely want this game in their collection, but for most players, this game will only slightly entertain.

Master filmmaker Tim Burton honed a vision of Batman on the big screen that was that of noir, applying his uniquely offbeat style to the existing franchise. His film became and has remained the template upon which all future iterations of the dark knight are based. UbiSoft has certainly performed admirably in recapturing this spirit, but has ultimately failed to provide the intuitive gameplay necessary to guide âjoeâ gamer through its creation. In noir, there are no heroes; malevolence absolutely dominant in the corrupted Gotham wasteland. Batman however, is a constant, an ever-glimmering paradox that may someday lead the land into a brightened future. One can only hope that his virtual sculptors at UbiSoft mirror his own destiny by rendering the definitive, consummate videogame weâve been waiting for. Alas, Vengeance is not it.

Even though Batman Vengeance is a mediocre game, mediocre games aren't supposed to be in my pile of games that I own. I unfortunately didn't read reviews and bought it (and was disappointed). I'm going to tell you now, Batman Vengeance has many downfalls, and a short game doesn't help its reputation any. This might sound stupid to you, but I'm almost glad that Batman Vengeance wasn't a 10 hour game. I would have lost my mind doing the same things over again. Ok, knock out the thugs, kill the boss. Knock out the thugs, kill the boss. Over and over again! Even with this being said, the game is not only repetitive, but it also has one of the most linear level designs ever created. The decent graphics and great voice acting will help Batman Vengeance in the final score though.
2001 · GameCube · read reviewIf you are a major fan of the animated series, Batman: Vengeance is a dream come true. Besides a slight jaggedness in some lines and questionable lip-synching, this game looks and sounds just like the cartoon. If you are looking for a challenging, rewarding Batman game with which to spend some quality time, keep waiting.
