Description

The land of Tagor-Dal was for thousands of years ruled by the mighty High Kings. During these times the country was prosperous and its people happy. However a threat was always present, the nearby kingdom of Malokor that was ruled by the Black Sorcerers. Thereby a group of sorcerers were sent out on a mission to collect seven staves that was to be used to drive away all evil from the lands. This lead to peace but it was not to last as it lead to complacency and stagnation. At the same time the power of Malokor increased and as Tagor-Dal got weaker and weaker, evil struck the land. With the kings dead and the staves presumed broken, three hundred dark years followed. Now a strange messenger has appeared, summoning an army of heroes willing to face the evil legions. The player is one of these and has been summoned to a hidden sanctuary to be trained to be a warrior. Within the sanctuary also lies the last surviving stave which when found can be used to save the world.

Legends of the Lost Realm is a first person fantasy role playing game. The game starts in the barracks were the player has to create a party of up to six characters. There are four basic classes (fighter, thief, shaman and magician) each which has one to three specialization classes that can be chosen when levelling up. These include for instance samurai, monk, healer and witch. Once a party has been assembled the player can start exploring the corridors of the citadel. This is done through a point and click interface similar to other first person RPG's of its time. Combat consists of random encounters and enemies are not visible from the first person perspective. Instead combat takes place on a separate screen that consists of textual descriptions and simple icon based graphics. The combat is turn based and for each character the player picks one of five commands (attack, hide, cast, use or switch). A retreat option is also available and it's possible to bribe the enemies and thereby avoid a fight. Some enemies not only attacks but also try to steal the player's possessions.
