Will Fight for Food

Will Fight for Food is a fighting brawler that incorporates many role-playing elements. The protagonist is the WWF wrestler Jared who squanders his career after losing an important tournament. The game is set in the fictional city Whateville and it is up to the player to get Jared back on his feet. He gets to roam the entire city and meets friends and rivals he can talk to. There are many items to collect that provide new abilities. The general statistics are health, attack, defense, and speed, and these are further influenced by equipping items.

The action part of the game is played like a side-scrolling brawler. With a press of a key the player can have Jared put on his mask, which enables fighting using a combination of kicks and punches. When the mask is taken off again the game returns to the exploration mode. Most of the role-playing elements are introduced into the conversation system. Conversation options vary based on body language, opinion and tone, and are also influenced through the personality of speakers (determined through a number of traits) and the context. Decisions directly influence the game and eventually the outcome of Jared's career. The many NPCs also offer quests and tasks.
