Description
Swarm is a Space Invaders variant with a twist: the player can capture enemy units, attach them to the ship and use them as extra weapons. Capturing enemies doesn't imply any additional effort except shooting the designated unit. In any other aspect, it functions as a typical representative of the sub-genre. The player controls a ship at the bottom of the screen and can move it right or left. The goal is to shoot all the metallic insects coming from the top and advance to the next level.
The game is divided into sectors, each consisted of ten levels. Dead enemies may drop different types of power-ups: rapid fire, super rapid fire, laser, super laser, regular drone, laser drone and power shield. Most are self-explanatory. The drones act as attachments to the main ship and provide additional fire power, similarly to the captured alien insects, while the power shield gives temporary invulnerability. Since the insects themselves can't harm the ship by touching it, the player is required only to slalom through their green shots.
