The Games Cabin (8.8 out of 10)

DriveClub does what it set out to do; provide a thrilling and graphically intense racing game. There's not a lot wrong with DriveClub, though the arcadey style handling of the cars could be reworked, I'm happy enough to let it slide in favour of all that it does right.

It's odd that the on-the-track action can be so boisterous, but at the same time, the ranking system is so conventional in its obsession with shaving tenths of seconds from your times. It speaks to the strength of the challenge and club systems that DriveClub remains wholly enjoyable despite such an omission. A few less serious forms of racing would do a lot to improve to the experience and catapult it into the same realm as the greatest of arcade racers, but what's on offer represents a commendable attempt at changing the way we think about how competition is served in a racing game.

De besturing van de auto's is subliem en daardoor zal iedereen lol beleven aan deze PS4 exclusive, maar het is niet de heilige graal waar we allemaal op hoopten. Het is een leuke racegame maar dat hele clubgebeuren komt nog niet goed uit de verf.

Per concludere ci troviamo in mano un prodotto valido, ma non eccelso quasi incompleto (grave la mancanza delle pioggia o della modalità foto in un gioco prettamente social, entrambe però verranno implementate in futuro con delle patch); un normale gioco di guida arcade che può divertire per un breve tempo chi adora le corse pure senza tanti setup e per un lungo tempo chi ama correre in compagnia, ma che farà storcere il naso ai puristi della guida simulativa. Insomma Driveclub delude se si pensa all’ esperienza ludica che doveva regalare e che veniva descritta dai media, un po’ come successe con watch dogs, ma che al contrario di quest’ ultimo non vi lascerà comunque completamente con l’ amaro in bocca. Titolo da avere nella scarna libreria nextgen, ma che non vi convincerà sicuramente a chiudere con la cara old gen.

Driveclub isn't exactly a triumph but it's a polished, very entertaining game that delivers an adrenaline-filled good time. The fun factor remains high throughout, the amazing detail – in both the background and the cars themselves – is a definite accomplishment of note, and the social features are extremely attractive. The solo content doesn't quite cut it, though, and the AI is occasionally too aggressive. You've also got a car list that is almost exclusively European, which is more than a little surprising. In short, I can't say I'm disappointed with the end result, as I had plenty of fun and the refinement is obvious. It just needed to be fleshed out more.

Driveclub hätte das Audi Quattro Concept sein können – eine moderne und liebevolle Hommage an die Vergangenheit. Geworden ist es ein blauer Audi RS5 – immer noch eine technische Meisterleistung, die aber ein bisschen zu sicher und zu langweilig ist (und einen schrecklichen Farbgeschmack hat). Irgendwo auf dem langen Entwicklungsweg hat es ein Stück seiner Seele verloren und ist zu sehr auf Nummer sicher gegangen. Für einen Launch-Titel wäre seine Einsteigerfreundlichkeit und die durchaus vorhandene Oberflächlichkeit vielleicht kein so großes Problem gewesen. Aber mit der Verschiebung sind auch die Ansprüche an das Spiel gewachsen, die sich nicht allein auf grafische Verbesserungen beziehen. So ist die Erwartungshaltung der Spieler vielleicht auch der Faktor, an dem Driveclub letztlich scheitern könnte. Es sieht vielleicht aus, wie die nächste Rennspielgeneration. Aber es fühlt sich an wie eine Reise in die Vergangenheit.

So it is that Driveclub is simply the most beautiful racing game I have ever seen, with a heavy emphasis on social gaming and a sterile single player experience. But that isn’t the whole story. Driveclub is an unfinished game, and the developers are promising updates to bring a host of new features, including the much hyped weather system, photo editor and replay option, along with new cars and tracks. It is likely that the Driveclub we see in six months time will be very different from what is available now. But now is when we judge the game. As it stands, Driveclub is gorgeous and the actual gameplay is incredibly satisfying. However, the single player game is lacking a soul, and the social aspects which should be the core selling point for the game, are limited. Driveclub has the potential to be a must have PS4 racer, but it is a work in progress and at the moment is only raised above average by its beauty.

DRIVECLUB n'est malheureusement pas le jeu qu'on attendait tous. Un peu trop pauvre en contenu, il propose aussi des sensations de pilotage bien moyennes et une IA extrêmement frustrante qui compense son manque de compétitivité par des tricheries grotesques. Le système de clubs largement mis en avant consiste quant à lui simplement à engranger de l'expérience pour bien figurer dans des leaderboards, ce qui ne devrait pas suffire à assurer le succès à long terme du jeu. Fort heureusement, les défis qui pleuvent chaque jour peuvent motiver les compétiteurs à se surpasser, mais cela ne fait pas pour autant de DRIVECLUB un bon jeu.

Om een Nederlandse hiphop-formatie te quoten: weer een kans gemist, de muziek wel gehoord maar de dans gemist. Driveclub komt voort uit een goed idee. Afgaande op eerdere speelsessies, waarbij de multiplayer wel goed werkte, weten we ook dat het concept werkt. Tel daar de prima besturing van de auto's en de goede graphics bij op, en je hebt in potentie een uitstekende racegame. Door de vele problemen die er rond Driveclub bestaan, komt de game voorlopig echter totaal niet uit de verf. Een goed werkende versie van Driveclub had waarschijnlijk op vier sterren kunnen rekenen - enkele minpunten blijven bestaan, ongeacht of de servers werken - maar in deze gehandicapte vorm kunnen we Driveclub moeilijk een echte aanrader noemen.

Schade um das Potenzial von DriveClub! Genau wie die meisten Kollegen haben auch wir den größten Teil unserer Testzeit vor dem offiziellen Release mit dem Spiel verbracht - und hier liefen die Server noch überwiegend stabil, so dass wir auch schon an zahlreichen Online-Herausforderungen teilnehmen, selbst eigene erstellen und auch in Online-Rennen loslegen konnten. Aber pünktlich zum Start funktioniert das alles entweder gar nicht mehr oder nur noch sporadisch. Auch heute hatten wir den ganzen Tag über keine Chance, eine Verbindung zu den Servern herzustellen - gestern Abend ging es nur mit inhaltlichen Einschnitten, da man keinen Zugriff auf laufende Herausforderungen hatte. Das kann und darf nicht sein! Nicht bei einem so wichtigen Vollpreis-Titel. So kann die Mehrzahl der Spieler derzeit nur in der Offline-Karriere Gas geben.
