Fieldrunners 2

Fieldrunners 2 is a real-time tower defense strategy game and the sequel to Fieldrunners. The gameplay is largely identical to the first game. The player needs to build mazes of towers to fend off the incoming waves of fieldrunners that attempt to reach the other side. Only a limited amount of passes are allowed or the session needs to be restarted.

By killing runners such as airplanes, heavy tanks, fast motorcycles or large groups of soldiers, money is earned to buy additional towers. The selection includes a gatling tower, machine gun, ice tower, oil tower, sonic blast tower, cannon tower, hive tower (launches bee hives), gas tower, link tower, plague tower, zap tower, tesla tower and more. They are unlocked gradually and can be upgraded two times. They fire automatically and do not need to be controlled. Redundant towers or placed by mistake can be sold. There are three difficulty levels and the performance is rewarded with stars to unlock new levels and towers. Coins can be earned to buy power-ups, such as rewind (undo mistakes), deep freeze, smart mine, fire fountain etc. In mobile versions in-app purchases are supported to acquire additional coins. There are also airstrikes that charge slowly and can be used every now and then to clear the field. The game is played in real-time, but it is possible to pause to build or upgrade towers, and there is a fast forward button as well.

Next to the main rounds-based gameplay, other game types include sudden death (kill a certain amount of units before you are overrun), time trial (defeat a number of opponents before time runs out) and puzzle (build tower mazes to lure fieldrunners into lasers). The different environments available from the world map include grassy fields, deserts, cities and a volcano lair. Some levels are open for the player to design a maze, while others add elements such as elevation, bridges, tunnels and trenches.
