Speed Kills

Speed Kills is an arcade racing game similar to Rock 'n Roll Racing or the contemporary BlazeRush. Races take place on short tracks with a view next to or above the track. As the camera stays fixed relative to the vehicle, the controls need to be adjusted based on the position on the track. The player chooses one of two characters and races on five planets with 50 tracks in total. Each planet consists of two tournaments presented as two divisions. Races are always done with six racers and the standings are rewarded with 10, 6, 4, 2, 1 or 0 points based on the finishing position. To promote to the higher division and then to win the championship and move on to the next planet, the character needs to reach a certain position in the final standings.

The game offers eight vehicles with different statistics based on speed, acceleration and armor. Each vehicle also has a front weapon, a rear weapon and boost. They are divided over three classes: monster truck, sportscar and antigrav. By racing money is earned based on the finishing position, money pick-ups, a kill bonus and a style bonus. The money can be used to purchase a new vehicle. Vehicles can be upgraded multiple times for each of the main statistics and additional ammo can be purchased before starting a race. They can be customized through a paint colour.

Races take place on tight tracks with jumps, turns and crossings. If the vehicle jumps out of the track, is destroyed or drives in the wrong direction, it respawns. Different types of weapons are used, such as the main front gun or dropping something behind the vehicle. There are also various power-ups such as double damage, a speed boost, additional nitro, a repair bonus and invulnerability. With each completed lap a new nitro is provided. Gathered power-ups and weapons are kept across races in a single tournament.
