Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries
Description
Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is a 3D cinematic platformer loosely based on the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. It is the first and eventually only game in what was planned to be an episodic series. The player controls Red Riding Hood who lives with her granny in the forest. Her father works in the city Ulrica for Woolf Industries led by B.B. Woolfe. One day he dies in a work accident, but Red does not believe that. She goes to the city to investigate and to avenge her father.
Although some sections play as a 2.5D platformer, large parts of the game offer movement in full 3D space. As a cinematic platformer the core gameplay is based around overcoming obstacles by (double) jumping, hanging from and climbing ledges and solving small environment based puzzles using levers and other mechanics while pieces of the story are gradually revealed during gameplay and cut-scene sequences. Red is also able to sprint, duck and roll. There is a small stealth element as some of the combat can be avoided by sneaking past opponents. Early on in the game she picks up an axe and can fight opponents using small and heavy attacks that can be combined into combos. Through a limited amount of magic time can be slowed down and several more moves are learned gradually in that mode, such as a whirlwind attack, throwing the axe, slamming the floor etc. By activating this mode certain parts of the environment that can be used, such as platforms and ledges, are highlighted in green to help the player.
The levels take place in the city and a second part in the forest. The game is split up into several chapters and these have multiple checkpoints presented as baskets. Defeated enemies leave behind health and magic and those can also be found by smashing boxes. Optionally glowing W-icons can be found in hidden locations that unlock concept art and diary entries accessible in a separate screen. Next to the regular platforming sections there are a few chase sequences and several boss fights. Some parts of the game allow Red to explore without danger to examine the environment and reveal more of the story.

Trivia
Development
Following the release of the game's first episode, it was announced on 10th August 2015 that the studio had been dismantled and bankruptcy was requested as the developer was unable to pay its bills. The assets for the second episode were put up for sale and on 21st October 2015 Rebellion Developments Ltd. announced the acquisition of the IP as well as the fulfillment of most of the outstanding backer rewards from the Kickstarter campaign. Updates for the game and work on a second episode were deemed unlikely for the near future, due to the incompatibility of the game's use of UnrealEngine3 and Rebellion's own Asura engine.
