PlayStation 2 screenshots
The game starts with an animated sequence showing all the golfers. This guy is playing in, or rather out of, a forest
The game's title screen
The game's menu
The background picture is a flyby of one if the courses
The things in the corners change as the player moves between the options
This is the only in-game configuration option
The start of a match
This is a Stroke Play match but the same screen serves all modes
Just one controller connected so the game provides some competition
The pre-match character selection screen
Characters are chosen via the left/right buttons
In Stroke Play and Match Play modes the player can choose between the three courses
In Tour mode there is no choice
There's no flyby view of the course or of the hole, just a picture pointing out a few features as the game loads
Lining up at the tee
The mini map shows three possible shots the player can make
The game is played entirely with the CROSS
This shows the shadow image of the backswing
CROSS must be presses when the player reaches that point of their stroke for a perfect shot
At the end of each shot the player is told how far they went
On the fairway and hoping to get to the green
On the green shaping up for a put
Here there is no mini map and no choice of stroke to play
When the player presses CROSS the view changes to side-on
On the green shaping up for a put
All strokes use the same side-on view with the familiar shadow showing the point in the backswing where CROSS must be pressed
That's the ball in the hole.
Things don't always go to plan
The game plots the path the ball should take automatically
Timing is everything.
Press CROSS at just the right point of the backswing, or right at the moment of impact and the game will give you a 'well done'
Playing a Stroke Play match
At the end of each hole the game shows the scorecard.
The same format is used for a Match Play game but symbols are used to show holes won, lost and tied
This is quite rare but sometimes in the game when the characters are on a slope their stance is very odd
The end of a Stroke Play game
The Match Play game uses the same text but a different background
In order to play in the tournaments the player must qualify as a professional. This means completing a Pro Test match and finishing well
Players must finish well in the Pro Test game to qualify for the Tour matches. In addition to the regular scoreboard a Leader Board which is also used
The start of one of qualifying matches
There are a few screens like this showing last year's winners, their earnings, their rankings etc
Games can only be saved when playing in Tour mode
