Dragon Cave

Dragon Cave is an adoptable pet game in which the player raises dragons from eggs to adulthood. Eggs can be obtained through adopt pages, breeding, or trades with other players. Growing eggs and hatchlings need clicks and views in order to live and grow, and will die if they don't reach their next stage of life within one week. However, receiving too many views in too short a time can cause the egg or hatchling to get sick, which will cause it to die unless it is hidden from other players for a while. Once a dragon reaches adulthood, its click and view counters stop increasing, and it is no longer in danger of death or illness unless its owner intentionally kills it.

Dragons come in a wide variety of species, each with their own unique appearances and characteristics. Many species display sexual dimorphism, and others may have rare alternate sprites that can be obtained when specific conditions are met. A player may choose to let their dragons grow to adulthood, or permanently freeze a dragon's growth at the hatchling stage to keep it as a baby forever. Adult dragons of specific species have breed-specific actions that can give the player special benefits, but which are set on a cooldown timer after use. An in-game encyclopedia keeps track of all of these traits, as well as species-related lore that does not impact gameplay, but requires the player to see and raise dragons in order to slowly unlock the full entries.

All dragon species on the site are collaboratively designed by site users and artists. New dragon species are released a few times a year, including special holiday releases that can only breed more of their own kind during a narrow time window.
