FYI
Like any good millennial, Moomin leaves with his parents.
Beans, Moominmama. We call them coffee /beans/. Something must have gotten lost in translation from Swedish via Japan.
Tutorial underway!
As you sow, so shall ye reap.
Drag those beans! The developers expect that you use your finger to perform the drag, and I hope they are not disappointed.
An economy emerges!
I can see that this particular delaying dynamic will become my bane further on down the line.
Two men enjoying a fresh pot of black coffee.
A vacation? Oh do let's take on!
On our promenade we met Sniff! And, uh, made a very small positive impression on him.
I don't know what the Moomins do to make their vacations so profitable, mine just hemorrhage money. Maybe they are smuggling lingonberries on the side.
Expanding our tale's cast.
I guess I'm playing this game the way the developers intended for me to play it.
Not every game could get away with offering a park bench as a reward.
Now, where do we want to put it?
And for those of you with poor imaginations, here's what we do with it.
The free-to-play game's sinister economic model reveals itself!
The rubies are considerably scarcer (even if they can occasionally be had by the bathtub-load) and are only widely available in exchange for real money.
The most common in-game currency must have a pretty good exchange rate with the cavemen of Bedrock.
After a week of playing I am still no closer to making this infernal cake.
Some bonus materials make their way to players through baroque machinations.
97 seconds for wheat? But I want it noooowww!
If I have learned anything from Twilight, that must be vampire wheat.
Moominmama helpfully waters the crop.
How to get ahead in the game: do quests.
The farming isn't just agriculture -- Sniff can harvest goodies from the seashore!
Having installed a dance floor, Moomin celebrates by performing the existentialist dance of his people.
Tap on a whistling Moomin and you get free XP! The speckled plots of land are off-limits and must be bought at exorbitant prices.
If you don't have enough of some required material, the game will be happy to sell it to you.
Panning out for a whole-valley view.
New business! (In the Moominvalley, a party is business.)
Do we have adequate supplies for this party? (Or, as Gogol Bordello would say: "Where's the vodka, where's the marinated herring?")
Three cheers for Sniff!
Here's something new!
Life beyond the Moominvalley: more fetch quests.
Are we missing some important screenshots?
