Disney Crossy Road

Disney Crossy Road is the sequel to Crossy Road. The concept is largely identical, but this version was developed with licensed Disney characters from the franchises Big Hero 6, Haunted Mansion, Inside Out, Lion King, Mickey Mouse & Friends, Rapunzel, Toy Story, Wreck-It Ralph and Zootropolis. Each franchise comes with a completely different environment, multiple characters and some elements that are unique for each type of scenery. The game is free-to-play and player starts with Mickey, just one character like the original game. Additional ones are unlocked by collecting coins as a currency or buying characters right away as in-app purchases with real money.

The gameplay takes its cues from the original Frogger. A character is guided through an endless, randomly generated environment, crossing rivers, streets, forests, icy landscapes, train tracks etc. Each tap makes the character hop forward and this is rewarded with a point. A single collision ends the game and the goal is to get as far as possible, earning points, in one go. Next to taps, swiping left and right is possible to move in that direction and it is also possible to go back. There is no time limit, but the screen moves along with the character and if the waiting time is too long, the character disappears at the bottom of the screen or an event unique to each franchise happens and the game is over. After collisions a photo of the aftermath is often shown. Some game elements are only available for specific franchises, such as carrying orbs in the Inside Out environment. In Haunted Mansion you need to relight candelabras so the level does not go dark, in Toy Story you have to dodge coloured cubes, Big Hero 6 has jump pads to skip parts, in Wreck-It Ralph candies can be picked up for multipliers, in Lion King you need to avoid stampedes of wildebeest and so on. Next to the main franchise characters there are legendary ones that provide additional perks. The pig Hamm from Toy Story for instance lets the player earn coins quicker.

Additional coins can be earned by watching video advertisements. Every now and then the game provides a present, either a new character or additional coins. New for this version is that some characters can be unlocked by finding them in the environment, next to collecting coins. Unlike the original game there is a new system where duplicate characters can be converted for a chance to receive a rarer one.
