Description

I'm Your Man is an interactive movie originally released for cinemas in 1992. This Special Edition is the DVD adaptation of said movie and comes with a number of extras: outtakes, a documentary, notes, storyboards, trailers and director's commentary.

The game features three main characters: Jack, Leslie and Richard, and the gameplay revolve around choosing from which of the characters' perspective the story should unfold. The story involves all three characters going to a party where Leslie attempts to meet up with an FBI agent to deliver information about Richard's money siphoning scam. Richard knows about this and goes to the party to prevent her from doing so. When the game starts the player chooses one of the characters and this option will reappear throughout the game. Depending on which character is chosen at every stop different parts of the story will be revealed. Therefore the scenes showed will be different for every playthrough. At times the characters will talk directly into the camera and ask the player what should happen next. The remote control is then used to choose one of two or three options and the video will continue playing. At the end, the player once again gets to choose one of the characters each leading to an ending in favour of the chosen character.

Trivia

Original cinema version

The original version of I'm Your Man was premiered at a special cinema at Loews Theatres in New York City in December 1992. Each seat in the cinema was fitted with a special controller that had three buttons that the viewer could use to vote on what should happen next. The option with the most votes would then be played.

The movie was shot on 16mm film that was then transferred to a laser disk and projected digitally. The admission fee was $3 but for that the viewers were allowed to see the 20-minute film as many times as they wished.
