Description
Destroyer is a fixed screen action game where the player has to launch depth charges from a destroyer in an attempt to destroy submarines. It is similar to Depthcharge which was released in the same year but differs in some way. In Destroyer the ship moves back and forth automatically with the player's control being limited to change between fast or slow speed. The shooting mechanic is different too with the player here using a dial to set a target depth, which is indicated by a horizontal line. The depth charges will only detonate at that depth and will pass by any submarines above it. The game is timed and the aim is to get the best score by destroying as many submarines as possible within that time. The point value of a submarine depends on the speed and depth of which it travels.
