Accounting
Description
Accounting is a free, short, humourous VR game about the world of accounting moving on to new VR technology after using the abacus and the computer. The game starts in medias res as the protagonist is in an office and receives a call with congratulations for becoming the new accountant. Shown through a first-person view, the tracked motion controllers are used to interact with the game world. They are displayed in the game as two large mouse arrows. They change when interacting with certain objects, as a hand or a pointy finger to push, pull or press things. Many items can be picked up and dragged. It is possible to look in any direction. Much of the story is provided through audio dialogue with phone calls. Almost immediately an in-game VR device is provided, as a novelty in the world of accounting, used to link the different abstract scenes together as the character remains in the office using the goggles.
There is no full movement, but room-scale is used to approach parts of the environment and get a closer look. For instance, the first VR scene is outdoors and a strange, cursing white creature peeks out of a tree, complaining about you touching all its stuff. At the same time a very confusing phone call from your coworkers happens with all voices trying to overrule each other. By activating another strange VR device made out of wood, the next scene is then accessed, set in a medieval dungeon. The process of solving a small puzzle to discover a new VR device is repeated at every scene. Almost every setting has a character talking to the player. For instance in the next scene the protagonist is inside a body and plays the bones that form a talking musical instrument. Other settings are a court room and a forest on fire.
