Colin McRae Rally 2.0
Windows version
Nice rally game, but the console roots are a bit too obvious
The Good
Decent handling, stages that are not too long, lots of cars, lots of countries with widely varying stages, decent graphics
The Bad
Lousy menus that you can't use a mouse with (just console-style left/right/select), control configuration that can't be saved right, some stages impossible to do well
The Bottom Line
CMR2 is a nice rally with heavy console roots. The menu system is atrociously console-ish. The control mapping doesn't save my settings, even though it does allow me to map accel/brake to keyboard and steering to joystick (many games can't go that). Handling is decent but doesn't quite get the power-slide feeling, making this a bit more "technical" than the pure-ly arcadish rally titles. Visuals are decent and a definite step up from CMR1. The multi-car races aren't that good but tolerable. It's the "super-special" competition that gets your adrenaline pumping...
Overall, decent rally game for older computers.
