The game's configuration options. The default difficulty setting was Casual and this can be changed here or later in the startup process
thumbnail
There are seven screens of help plus tutorial messages when the game starts. This screen explains that a mahjong game can be played as an alternative to solving a Hidden Object puzzle
thumbnail
There are three difficulty settings. I played the game using the casual setting
thumbnail
This is Owen, my partner. We received a panic phone call which we traced to the asylum so now we are off on the case
thumbnail
The game starts when we arrive at the asylum. There is an optional tutorial that explains the controls
thumbnail
The game is divided into several acts
thumbnail
The game has a well organised journal.
thumbnail
The first puzzle is an odd door lock
thumbnail
During the game there are four or five Detective Scenes. In such scenes I had to find nine clues, that's the number of slots in the box at the bottom of the screen. Then the clues are arranged to reconstruct the sequence of events
thumbnail
When a Detective Scene has been completed the sequence of events is replayed by shadow characters before being explained in detail
thumbnail
To solve this lock puzzle I had to find three blocks, add them to the puzzle and then arrange them into the correct order
thumbnail
There are Phantom Objects to be found and Achievements to be earned
thumbnail
The first Hidden Object scene comes with the option to play mahjong instead
thumbnail
The first Hidden Object scene is typical of those that follow. All items in white text are hidden in plain sight. Those on blue require an additional action such as assembly, opening a bag or drawer, moving something aside etc
thumbnail
Disarming a bomb, luckily I have a code. Codes appear in the inventory on scraps of paper, they are not stored in the journal
thumbnail
I encountered this message in Act III or later, just another thing to look for
thumbnail
The game has at least one pipe puzzle
thumbnail
The game has at least one Concentration style puzzle
thumbnail
In Act IV I started looking for Clue symbols
thumbnail
There is an in-game map
thumbnail
The game has at least one laser light puzzle
thumbnail
The asylum model is automatically assembled from pieces I found during the game. This is it at the end of the game, I obviously missed a piece
thumbnail
The game has a shedload of achievements but they are poorly presented in this scrollable list. There's no view which shows how many there are or how many I achieved/missed.
