Industry Giant II

Competitions

To promote the game, publisher Jowood organized several competitions before the game was released. One of them took place in June, 2002 and the contestants had to complete a flash game as fast possible without wrecking their trucks. The best three results would each win a copy of the strategy game Industry Giant II. The winners were announced on the 24th of June, 2002.

Another competition started in April, 2002. Every week until the release of the game the organizers would pose a question which the participants had to answer. The person with the most correct answers would win an exclusive Industry Giant II railroad model starter-kit from Roco, one copy of the game, as well as a T-Shirt. Other good results were subject to consolation prizes. The winners were announced on the 2nd of July, 2002: Claudine Pool and Phil Ridley won with 18 correct answers out of 21. With the exception of the railroad model, the pool of prizes consisted of: * five IG2 game copies * five IG2 T-Shirts * ten IG2 posters * ten IG2 lighters * ten IG2 playing card decks

Extras

The original release came with a bonus CD containing a promotional screensaver, wallpaper and over twenty behind-the-scenes pictures. It also contained playable demos of the then newly available games Cultures 2: The Gates of Asgard and Hotel Giant, and video trailers for Hotel Giant and The Nations.

Incompatibility

The game is not compatible with nVidia cards 6xxx and superior because the sprites are note correctly 4:3 dimensioned. A thread on the bug on the JoWood forum. To download the Mod/Fix look for "Industry Giant 2 Mod Fix" on the net. Mod Fix 1.00 and 1.10 are 400 MB each (all graphics files have been resized), Mod Fix 1.20 is 2.5 MB only.
