VIACOM NEW MEDIA AND BLOCKBUSTER TO LAUNCH UNPRECEDENTED NATIONWIDE 'ZOOP' VIDEOGAME PROMOTION

New York, NY., November 9, 1995 -- ZOOP, the addictive new video and computer game from Viacom New Media, will be part of a special "two-for-one" promotion in participating Blockbuster Video stores from November 8 -- December 10, when consumers who rent ZOOP will get an additional free rental of any other video game in the store. Viacom New Media and Blockbuster are both units of Viacom Inc.

The joint announcement of this special promotion was made today by Roberta Jacobs, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Viacom New Media and Russ Howard, Senior Buyer for Video Games at Blockbuster Video.

Viacom New Media will run an extensive national television advertising campaign to support the promotion.

Commented Ms. Jacobs, "ZOOP's non-violent, action puzzle gameplay is something that will appeal to family members of all ages and skills. We wanted to give the millions of people who come to Blockbuster a special incentive to try ZOOP. Once they start playing ZOOP, they won't want to stop."

Added Howard, "Blockbuster offers an exceptional marketing avenue for ZOOP. We believe consumers will be much more inclined to purchase ZOOP once they have had the opportunity to take it home and try it first. It's a very fun and addictive game."

Blockbuster Video offers two platforms for ZOOP: Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. ZOOP also is being published for Sony Playstation, Nintendo Game Boy, Sega Saturn, Sega Game Gear, PC diskette and Macintosh diskette. In addition, Viacom New Media has licensed ZOOP on other platforms including Atari Jaguar and Tiger Electronics

Handheld. Internationally, ZOOP will be available at retail on five platforms by the end of the year.

Wild colors, fast furious action and addictive game play are the hallmarks of ZOOP. Players defend ZOOP's center square by firing against advancing rows of multi-colored, fast moving shapes which simultaneously approach from four different directions. Both the color of the triangle shape with which you fire to defend your ground and the color of the advancing rows of shapes must be the same to score. The trick is that your "triangle" will change color, but only when you shoot at a shape of a different color. You can score points and advance to a total of 99 increasingly difficult levels.

A demo of ZOOP can be downloaded from the ZOOP home page on the World Wide Web at http://www.zoop.com. Viacom's New Media's World Wide Web address is http://www/viacomnewmedia.com.

Blockbuster Entertainment Group, a division of Viacom Inc., includes Blockbuster Video, Blockbuster Music, Spelling Entertainment, Discovery Zone, Showtime Networks Inc. and Paramount Parks.

Viacom New Media, a unit of Viacom Interactive Media, is a publisher of interactive entertainment software for Viacom.
