A fun film studio

The Good
The ability to get creative with this game is what makes it fun. Taking some of the hundreds of props, writing scripts for them, then flying through, and filming them. The editing room is actually pretty powerful, giving you a lot of options on how to edit together your own film. Once from Mothers Day, I made a short film. I used the "Man on a parachute" 'plane' and you saw him flying through and around big letters that were in the sky. The camara panned out to show that it said "Happy Mothers Day." A nice feature is that the program comes with a viewing program that you can give anyone so they can view the movies. I believe the format of the movies is propreitary. The program also comes with super documentation, including a map of the island with all the locations marked on it.

The Bad
The only real problem with the game is that it really doesn't have much "game" in it. It is much more a Construction set then a game. The only real game elements are getting assignment from the Stunt Director to move up the money board, and that really isn't that much fun. The other parts of the game are much better.

The Bottom Line
The premise of Stunt Island is that the major motion picture studies have gotten together and built an island specifcally for the filming of arial stunts. There is pre, and post production facilities on the island. Also there are dozens of locations on the island like a train track, grand canyon, etc, so you can make films at those locals. The program is really very flexible. The graphics are kind of simplistic, but decent for its time. Sound isn't really very good, although it is one of the few programs that supported the Disney Sound Source. I really can't think of any other program like this one. It is really original. Definitly worth spending a little time with a trying especially if like me you are interested in home video editing and movie making.
