The Socratic System
Description
The Socratic System is an "intelligent tutor" game that teaches medical students how to diagnose patients. According to the author it's based on "logical conditions of sufficiency, necessity, redundancy, and consistency." In the game both the computer or player can take the initiative. The player has a vocabulary list of forty questions (about physical exam results and lab reports) and thirty-five declarative statements. The computer would follow up each question or statement with a response. The computer would use the gathered information to answer questions, reprove hasty conclusions, acknowledge perceptive decisions, question the grounds of inference, suggest new approaches, and develop contingencies.
