Cuphead
Official Description
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.
Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil!

The Good
The animation is gorgeous and obviously complementary to Cuphead's already retro intentions on more than just the gaming front. It's a homage to the Fleischer cartoons of the 30s and 40s, and the Walt Disney shorts from around the same period. Its gameplay contrasts its very 80s and 90s-inspired gameplay taken right from staple game franchises like Mega Man and Super Mario World.
The Bad
Sometimes the boss battles can be particularly frustrating if you lose RIGHT at the end of a boss fight and you have to start over. But the sense of fulfillment and accomplishment you get from overcoming the bosses is worth the (admittedly) immense trouble.
The Bottom Line
Imagine Super Mario collaborating with Mickey Mouse in the 30s and then making that dream crossover a reality in Cuphead.
