Decent, but runs out of appeal in less then a day.

The Good
The game simulates the a Game Development process which is an interesting concept. I personally want to do something in our favorite industry, so the concept alone was enough for me to buy it. The game pulls it off quite well and takes you through the most important moments and while it doesn't show every single step it's still interesting.

The game looks very appealing and fun. This is how you make a game for all ages, nobody could look at this and say it looks ugly! I especially like how this game despises the color brown, I couldn't find it anywhere.

The game is historically accurate and it's amusing to see the NES launch and the positive reviews it receives. It does get annoying when the game start leaving out some game systems like the PSP and Playstation 2 and Xbox 360.

Sometimes something goes wrong during the development process and if you are a true gamer, you don't just reload your last safe to make sure that mistake isn't made, you just keep on going and try to fix it.

The Bad
The game runs out of content very fast and then just keeps on going with no real purpose except releasing games that get perfect scores for the rest of your life.

I found it very easy to accidentally click the game away and lose progress. Something that just wouldn't stop happening.

The game is full of weird situations like when employees want to spend research points in order to complete a task that gives you research points or when a game idea you come up with is misunderstood. I once had that when I tried to make a shooter based on the second world war and when I selected "Historical Shooter" I got a message which informed me that it was a horrible game idea.

For a game that talks a lot about story it is very poorly written. The same articles appear in every single playthrough and dialog boxes are ALWAYS the same.

A few dozen other things that are too small to describe separately.

The Bottom Line
Game Dev Story has an interesting concept, but the many flaws overshadow it. Even the amusing graphics can't help to overcome the dozen of problems this game contains, the lack of content been the worst of all. If you really want to play a simulation of a game development then you could try this, but I am going to wait for a Valve difficulty for this game before bothering with it again.
