Racquetball

The Good
There aren't many racquetball games around and it's nice to see that someone made one. Each game opens with a wonderful little tune as the players emerge from a doorway into the court. This is some of the best music you will hear from an Atari 2600 title. The player graphics are about as good as you can possibly get on this system and movement controls are smooth.

The Bad
The game's fatal flaw is that it attempts to render the multi-dimensional play court of a real racquetball game but, due to graphical limitations, it is extremely difficult to judge ball distance and location. In addition to the ball itself, players are given positioning cues in the form of a dot on the floor and another on one of the side walls. The ball does not scale down as it moves further in space so it becomes a real challenge differentiating between the fast-moving ball and it's shadows.

The Bottom Line
This game is a noble attempt at a sophisticated sports game for the Atari 2600. The potential for fun is there, but the game mechanics will take a lot of effort to master.
