Beano Interactive DVD

The Beano is a long running UK comic that first started in 1938 and, in 2017, is still going. This title, the Beano Interactive DVD is a compilation containing a comic with single player mini-games plus a collection of Beano cartoons

The comic tells the story of some baddies who are out to demolish the venerable Bash Street School. At first the Bash Street Kids are all for this because it means they will get a theme park instead but quickly uncover a dastardly plot and set out to thwart it. The full story has seven chapters, the first six of which contain a puzzle which, when solved, yields a letter of the password that unlocks chapter seven.

The player can also read the comic one chapter at a time or they can play the games directly from the menu however they only get the letters that unlock the final chapter by playing through the full comic. The puzzles are;* Chapter 1: The Big Bust Up where the player helps Teacher reassemble a shattered statue

• Chapter 2: Smiffy's Quiz Swizz, here the objective is to lose
• Chapter 3: Rodger's Dodge Decoy where the player has to sneak past security guards
• Chapter 4: Minnie's Mobile Malarkey a picture matching puzzle
• Chapter 5: Diggit! In which the player helps Gnasher find treasure
• Chapter 6: Windscreen Wipeout in which Dennis the Menace splats a digger with rotten tomatoes

The game has music, sound effects and in some places background cheering but no spoken words, the comic text appears in speech bubbles accompanied by a sort of 'Nyah-nyah-nie-nee-nyah' parody of the spoken voice.

The DVD also contains eight Beano cartoons 'The Snowman Party'; The New School'; 'Jelly Babies'; 'It's A Dad's Life'; 'Dennis Meets His Match'; 'Flutterby'; 'On Safari'; and 'Bag Those Pipes'.
