Hoverzone

Hoverzone is a Defender clone. The player controls a space ship that can be moved left or right in a side-scrolling environment to defeat waves of alien forces that attempt to abduct and kill a number of humans located stationary on the ground. The goal is to survive as long as possible with humans remaining. Aliens appear from both sides and the position of the aliens, the humans and the ship's position can be tracked on a large horizontal map near the top of the screen. The ship has an unlimited amount of ammo and shoots with a ray that travels instantly across the entire screen. At the start five lives are provided and collisions with aliens or the terrain below leads to instant death. The game contains five types of enemies called Grabber, Mutie, Podule, Psychocube and Zipper, and keeps track of the score.
