DescriptionFar Cry 4: Arena Master is a companion app for Far Cry 4. Players collect animals and mercenary fighters from the game and have them fight in small arenas, against computer-controlled champions or in arenas designed by other players. The animal and fighter units are collected in the barracks. They are unlocked in exchange for the main currency and additional units can be bought as well. By fighting experience is gained to level up and additional units become available. Each unit has different statistics based on speed, damage and the waiting time before commencing another attack. Redundant units can be sold.
The arena itself consists of a series of fights against champions. With each defeated champion a new one is unlocked. A champion is positioned in the middle of the screen, surrounded by four deployment circles. The player selects units from the bottom left corner and taps one of the circles to the deploy the unit. Once deployed, units attack by themselves without the player's control. Each circle has a maximum of 300 points and each unit has a certain deployment points cost. The player also has an overall amount of deployment points, but additional ones can be earned by tapping purple coins thrown by the crowd into the arena. An arena fight consists of a maximum of three rounds and if a champion is not defeated in the first round, he starts the second round with some additional health. Units gain overall experience by deploying them, lowering the deployment cost for a next fight and the main currency is earned by winning fights. During fights a certain amount of money can be exchanged for a Molotov cocktail or a grenade to do additional damage. Next to the series of champions, players can design custom arenas and challenge other players, or fight in arenas designed by other players.
An additional gameplay element is provided through a map of Kyrat similar to the one of the main game. Most of it is initially shrouded in fog and it contains radio towers and outposts. In this part of the game Preta Workers can be sent to the different locations for a chance to hunt or recruit additional units. Each quest has a certain risk and there is some waiting time before they are completed. The workers can die during the quests and additional workers are earned by winning arena battles. Bell towers can be descrambled to reveal more powerful units in that region and outposts can be captured to reduce the quest risk.
By logging into the Uplay service ties to the main game are established. It accelerates ranking up in the companion app, it unlocks rewards and it is required to send challenges to other players. There are no in-app purchases.
