Garfield: My Big Fat Diet

Garfield: My Big Fat Diet is a game where the player assists the cat Garfield from the famous comic strip with his favourite hobby: eating. Each level takes place in a single-screen restaurant with different tables. While Jon is ordering for a limited amount of time, the player needs to help Garfield steal and eat as much as possible from other customers. This is done by tapping and holding a customer, causing Garfield to get up and move nearby. A circle fills up and when it is full the theft is successful.

The player needs to keep track of Jon as exclamation marks sign that he will will start to look at Garfield. His gaze is shown as a bright beam and Garfield cannot get caught or the level is over right away. The game uses a live system based on energy/stamina with waiting times. Later on the cat Nermal also appears to watch Garfield. By releasing a finger Garfield returns to his seat automatically. It is not wise to keep stealing from the same customer as there are various states. A green face is a quick steal, a yellow one a slower one and a red one will tick off customers causing Jon to look right away. Sometimes a circle fills up slower but offers two meals at once. If the player has to let go to avoid Jon, stealing progress for that meal is reset.

Levels are unlocked gradually along a winding path. In each level up to three stars can be earned based on the performance. Completing levels successfully is rewarded with coins. Coins can be bought as in-app purchases and a reward can be doubled by watching an advertisement. Coins are used to unlock new Garfield costumes, acquire single-use items or upgrade power-ups. There are also boosts provided for real money, such as a permanent coin doubler or a start pack combining the currencies with single-use items. Single-use items are a lunch box for a chance to win a rare prize, tom tokens to call Tom during games to distract Jon, and refilling hearts (lives). There are various power-ups that appear during games, such as temporary invisibility, calling Odie to distract Jon, the Super Cat to become faster and stronger, Pookie to become cute, and freezing time. Coins can also be earned by watching videos, connecting through Facebook, liking the game on Facebook, and following on Instagram and Twitter.
