The game's initial platform was the British kit computer the Nascom. The incredible text and opcode compression required to pack the entire game of ADVENTURE (plus 70 extra rooms of bonus endgame upon learning after advertising 200 rooms that their version only contained 130) on to such a limited machine yielded Level 9's easy-to-port A-machine system.
