Solitaire King: Monte Carlo
Description
i>Solitaire King: Monte Carlo is a single player card game.
This title was of a number of freeware games that the developer released to promote interest in the full product, Solitaire King which had thirty-one different games and over eighty variations thereof.
This is a matching pair game which is played with a standard deck of fifty-two cards. Twenty cards are dealt face up in four rows of five cards, the remaining thirty-two cards are held in the stockpile and the object of the game is to clear this pile. Cards are removed from the twenty made available if the deal by matching adjacent pairs (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) of the same rank. When all pairs have been matched and removed the spaces are filled in by closing up the remaining cards and then dealing cards from the stock pile.
The game has a couple of variations which are accessed via the menu bar. One option is to match pairs which match on both rank and colour, in this variant the cards do not have to be adjacent and the second option changes the way the spaces are filled from the stock pile.
The player scores one point for cards moved to the foundation but scoring stops as soon as the player uses the Undo or Load a saved game options.
The game has save/load and undo/redo functions but has no sound and no statistics are kept. It is played entirely with the mouse
