Squarez Deluxe!
Description official descriptions
Squarez is a puzzle game with similarities to Tetris. Various shapes consisting of one to eight tiles appear in a 3x3 area and must be placed on the playing field within ten seconds. When a 3x3 or larger square is created it disappears. The game is over once a part of a shape remains in the area where it appears after its ten seconds are up.
There are three game modes: Basic, Normal, and Extreme. The Normal mode is just like Basic except that some of the shapes contain special tiles. These tiles are activated when the square containing them disappears. Some tiles, like bombs and score multipliers, are helpful, while others, like spikes, should be left alone. In the Extreme mode there are a lot more of these special tiles.
Squarez also features a head to head mode. In this mode two players each have their own playing field, and certain special tiles activated by one player can affect the other. The player to last the longest wins.

The Good
Similar to Tetris, except for one major thing...it's actually fun! That's my opinion, anyways!
Squarez Deluxe is much more fast-paced, and the gameplay of blowing up the blocks and making room for more, all the while with the bar sliding towards your side if you mess up (Play the game! It is much more simple than it sounds!). While in Tetris, there is little to no variation among blocks, in Squares Deluxe, there is acid, slime, missiles, and so on!
Did I mention that it's better than Tetris? ;)
The Bad
Even still, this game can wear thin after a while if you play it too much...
The Bottom Line
During those times that you've got nothing to do, and you don't exactly have the energy to get all involved in the plot or millions of other details in an FPS, Adventure game, etcetera, Squarez is a great way to pass the time!...

The Good
Always a challenge, and always fun - this is a great game that I paid for many years ago, & still enjoy playing it!
The Bad
There's really nothing that I didn't like
The Bottom Line
A bit like tetris but fast moving & challenging.

Trivia
Was originally in development for the C64, as simply Squarez, but this was abandoned as the system faded commercially.
