The Tale of Despereaux (included game)

The Tale of Despereaux is a fantasy animated film about a mouse who dreams of becoming a brave bold knight and who ends up rescuing a princess.

The UK release of this film contains bonus features among which are some interactive games, the features are; The Tale of The Tale of Despereaux: The story of how The Tale Of Despereaux* came to be written and turned into a film

• Interactive Map of the Kingdom of Dor: This is exactly what it says, the player uses the remote's arrow keys to highlight different hotspots at which point they press the remote button to trigger a short animation
• Top Ten Uses For Oversized Ears: Since the hero, Despereaux, has large ears this is a humorous 'top ten', this is NOT an interactive feature.
• Despereaux's Quest Game: Is a series of short challenges;
  • The first challenge is to escape the dungeon by climbing the wall. In this game the player is shown a pattern of bricks in the wall and on the right are three shields each with a similar pattern but only one of which matches the pattern Despereaux has to climb. To complete this challenge the player must select the correct shield with the remote over three rounds.
  • The second challenge is to help Despereaux jump over a line of mouse traps using a catapult made from a spoon. In the first round there is a single catapult which is drawn back to fire Despereaux over the traps. Beneath the catapult is an indicator which flashes when the catapult is at the correct setting so the player's challenge is to press the button on the remote at just the right time. On the second round there are two catapults so the player must press the remote's button when both indicators flash, and in the third round there are three catapults so there are three indicators to watch
  • The third challenge sees Despereaux fight the rats, which is reduced to three rounds of rock, paper, scissors
  • Challenge four is a set of three 'spot the difference rounds' in which the player must select the odd key from a set of five
  • To finally complete the quest and free the princess the final task is to arrange three mirrors so that the bounce light through the dungeon and scare away the rats* Build-A-Boldo Game: Boldo is the magic soup genie who helps the chef in the movie, he's made from vegetables and bits of kitchenalia. In this game the player is shown a picture of Boldo as he was at the last soup festival, later they are shown a picture of an incomplete Boldo and must choose the correct vegetable to complete him. The game has two difficulty settings, Easy and Hard.
