8bit killer
Description official description
8bit killer is a first-person shooter designed to resemble the early shooting games from the nineties, especially Wolfenstein 3D. The game uses a palette of 64 colours with 32x32 textures. It is divided in different, distinct areas with three levels each, of which the final level sports a boss fight.
The game takes place in the future, AD 2488, when the human race is on the verge of extinction. A space creature by the name of Master Brain has brought his army to earth and only a small group of soldiers is left to defend the few remaining cities. The player is one of those few.
Most levels have maze-like structures with locked doors that require the player to find keys. All enemies do visible, non-instant damage so most bullets can be strafed around. The game can be controlled through the keyboard or the mouse, but like most titles from the era it draws its inspiration from, there is no vertical movement or viewing options, and the player's character cannot jump. There are many different enemies, six weapons that are gradually discovered and power-ups that restore health and ammo, or expand the maximum limit to carry. At any time, the player can go to an inventory screen to select any of the available weapons. They all use the same kind of ammo. The story is continued between the different levels.
