A Pirate's Legend

Moby ID: 40379

Description official description

Search the southern Isles for the treasure of the pirate, Crimson Jones.

A Pirate's Legend is a match three game. To make a match, place your mouse on an item and hold down the left button. Next, drag the mouse across two or more of the same items then release the button. To clear the level, you must make matches over the gold coins until you clear them all away. If you make a match of four or more items, you raise the Jolly Roger flag a little up the pole. If you get it to the top of the pole, you will play Pirate Frenzy. You will have a screen of nothing but gold coins and will have ten seconds to connect as many as you can. Connect them all for an additional bonus score. Every so many levels, there is a bonus level where you play a mini game like Memory. You will have a screen with several cards. You must click two until you find all the matching pairs.

Scour those islands, ya scurvy dog, and find that treasure!

Trivia

Development

A Pirate's Legend uses a lot of the code from Luck Charm Deluxe

Motivation

Zach Young says when he made this game, he was "chasing the money" instead of making a game because he just wanted to.

Reception

Zach Young feels this game underperformed in comparison to Luck Charm Deluxe, even though he thinks A Pirate's Legend was a stronger game in most ways. Here are some reasons according to him: * RealArcade: A Pirate's Legend was published through several publishers but not RealArcade. Young says sixty percent of Luck Charm Deluxe's profit came through RealArcade but, for whatever reason, they chose not to publish A Pirate's Legend. * Voice overs: Young feels his voice over work in A Pirate's Legend was not as well done as that in Luck Charm Deluxe. * LOTS of pirate-themed games!: When Young began creating this game, there was one pirate movie in the theaters (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest) and no or few pirate-themed casual games. Eight months later, when this game shipped, there were pirate-themed games out the wazoo! This is, most likely, the biggest reason for the lower sales. A Pirate's Legend got lost in the crowd.
